superbloom

—Rebecca Uhlman

superbloom

aren’t you tired

of shuffling from foot

to foot, the days moving

away with no orchestra

on their heels? if light

can scatter, surely

so can darkness. now

the daffodils are in bloom,

their fragile trumpets

pushing a song

into the air. now the red

tulips are awake & open

like mouths. i believe

that the heart of the world

is big enough for me.

if i am a desert, i am one

carpeted by color.

i want to be something

more than wealth.

i want to live like the thirst

water has for itself.
